In this annual cross-age, cross-curricular contest, middle school students are invited to participate in a competition to create a K-2 storybook focusing on outdoor water conservation and California Friendly plants though the creation of an illustrated fiction narrative.
This is a class-based project that requires teacher facilitation.
Students will author and illustrate a K-2 story about outdoor water conservation.
Students will research and present a message that sprinkler run off and outdoor water use is the number one cause of water waste and how to prevent it.
Students will research and include information about the important role California Friendly plants play in the water conservation message.
Students are encouraged to explore their creativity to develop an engaging story for K-2 students.
Story must be 500-1000 words.
Story must be written at K-2 level.
Story must be Illustrated
No trademarked or copyrighted artwork or materials will be accepted.
Story and illustrations become the property of Eastern Municipal Water District; however, winning students and teachers will receive author, illustrator, and facilitator credits for book.
