Retirement
The Public Employment Retirement System benefit formula is 2.5% @ 55. The District pays 7% of the employee contribution and employees pay the additional 1% through payroll deductions.
Medical Insurance
EMWD offers several health insurance plans. District contributions cover most of the insurance premiums. Any portion of the premium not covered by the District's contribution is paid for by the employee through payroll deduction.
Double Medical Insurance
Participating employees with sufficient proof of other medical insurance coverage may be entitled to biweekly reimbursement payments of $166 in lieu of District coverage.
Dental Insurance
EMWD offers one dental plan, Delta Dental. Currently, the premiums are fully paid by the District.
Vision Insurance
Effective 8/1/99, the District has contracted with Pacificare Full Service Vision Plan, and will pay for employee coverage. Employees may choose to add eligible dependents, but must pay the difference in premium through payroll deductions.
Group Life Insurance
District-paid life insurance is provided equal to the employee's annual salary (maximum $150,000). Employees may purchase additional life insurance (maximum $50,000) of which the District and employee each pay half.

Sick Leave 12 days annually.

Other Benefits
Other benefits include Credit Union privileges, voluntary deferred compensation and tuition assistance. When required, uniforms are provided and maintained by EMWD.
Employees can purchase supplemental insurance through AFLAC.
Medicare Deduction
EMWD is required to collect Medicare tax for employees hired on or after April 1, 1986. This equals 1.45% of total gross earnings.
Driving Record/Medical Examination/Drug Screening
All employment offers are contingent upon the applicant's driving record being acceptable to the District's insurance carrier and successful completion of an employment physical examination, which includes drug screening.
